How to use essential oils internally safely
So I am just starting to get more into essential oils. I have always been interested in them but have always been a little bit skeptical towards them just because they are expensive and I don't really know how to use them properly. Essential oils are an extremely concentrated formula of a plant or herb so it is extremely important to know HOW to use essential oils. If you don't know how to use essential oils properly they can be extremely harmful to the body.
One thing that is always not recommended or taken with extreme caution is taking essential oils internally, but as I'm beginning to learn more and more about essential oils I am learning that it can be okay to take them internally, but ONLY if you are doing it properly.
First things first. Oil and water doesn't mix. Everybody knows that. So essential oils are OILS. So let's take a second to think about that for a sec. If olive oil, coconut oil, canola oil and all these other cooking oils dont mix with water, why would essential OILS mix with water? They don't. So let's learn how you can take them in your drinks.
It's important to always dilute your essential oils in a carrier oil. Some oils are okay to directly apply to your body but essential oils are extremely potent so I personally choose to use a carrier oil to make them last longer as well. But like we said already, oil and water don't mix, so how are you supposed to add essential oils to your drink diluted for safety if what your using doesn't mix with your drink? We need to find another carrier that can help dilute and carry your essential oils into your drink so that you don't damage your insides when you ingest it.
Two carriers I have found that you can use for your drink/water would be honey or liquid stevia. Add your essential oils to the honey or stevia and mix till it is emulsified then add to your drink.
A couple other non-oily edible carriers for consumption would be milk and yogurt.
